About HeyFlash.com
HeyFlash.com is created by a professional graphic and multimedia artist named Lourdes, who wants to share with you the process on how to create cool animations in Flash, while revealing those secrets that will hopefully make the learning of this application a much more fun and easier experience for you.
Most of these tutorials are in videos, as the author of this site understands
that all of us who are or want to be in the animation, art, and design field are better at learning in the visual way. The images accompanied by the audio in these video tutorials are also a more engaging and friendlier approach to share new techniques.
The tutorials in this site are presented in both languages, English and Spanish. For the Spanish section, please click on the right top corner of this page where it says "Tutoriales en Español".

Hey! Want to learn Adobe Flash in an easy and fun way? or just watch cool stuff that are done in Flash CS4? Then, you have stumbled upon the right site, which comes with free video tutorials and animated movies for you to learn step-by-step the techniques to either create fun animations with Flash or just kick back to enjoy the "show". Enjoy!
This is a tutorial that shows you how I created the walk cycle for my character "Mr. Banana" while using the bone tool in Adobe Flash CS4. The Bone tool (inverse kinematics) is a new great feature in Flash CS4. It offers you the ability to create an armature (skeleton) based on a series of symbols or shapes. These shape objects are linked so that they move in relation to each other in a chain-like way. It provides flexibility to animate your character and manipulate your figure as it was a marionette puppet. I encourage you to experiment with it, as it is a lot of fun to use, while allowing you to give life to your character.
You can use the graphic below as a reference for your walk cycle animation:

Also, you can see below this paragraph, another tutorial where I show you how to create an animated pattern with the use of one of the newest tools in Flash CS4, which is the Deco Tool. You will be surprised on how easy it is to create an animated pattern as part of your background, since Flash CS4 will do most of the work for you! Additional tutorials where I teach you how to create a walk cycle, draw a character based on basic shapes, customize the spray brush in Flash CS4, use the bone tool, and make your character blink are also available currently. Visit the video tutorials section and the Flash tips section to find these cool videos.
Below is an example of an animated movie that was created in Adobe Flash CS4. I was experimenting with the new 3D tool of Flash CS4 in it. I found out that it can be processor intensive to use this 3D tool, so I will be using it again only when necessary, as it made my animation a bit off from the audio as you will see.
This animation was inspired by an original song by Bryant Oden. The Duck Song tells you the story of a super funny but also annoying duck. As you can see, some of the tricks that I have applied on this animated video belong to the tutorials where I show you how to make a character blink and how to create a walk cycle using the bone tool, for example. A lot of these tricks are intended to make your workflow a much easier one. I hope you enjoy these few tutorials that I have right now, and if so, please mark this page as your favorite one for more tutorials upcoming soon (click "Favorites" on your browser menu, and then "Add to Favorites").
Go to my video page for The Duck Song at YouTube if you would like to leave any comments on my Flash animation.
This site is new, so I am still in the process of creating more tutorials that will be populating these pages pretty soon. In the meantime, please subscribe to my video channel at YouTube, so that I can keep you posted on more upcoming cool videos. Thanks!
